Ab 15. September wird Project xCloud Teil des Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Dann lassen sich mehr als 100 Konsolen-Titel auf Android-Smartphones und -Tablets spielen – kostenlos.

Update vom 14. September 2020: Abonnenten von Xbox Game Pass Ultimate können ab dem morgigen 15. September ohne Zusatzkosten auf mehr als 150 Spiele via Android-Smartphone oder -Tablet zugreifen – und zwar via Cloud-Gaming. Die komplette, vorläufige Spiele-Liste finden Sie am Ende dieses Beitrags.

Zu den Highlights gehören unter anderem Tell Me Why, Grounded und Forza Horizon 4. Microsoft hat angekündigt, die Sammlung kontinuierlich zu erweitern.

Zum Jahresende wir der Xbox Game Pass Ultimate außerdem um die Spiele-Bibliothek von EA Play erweitert – darin enthalten sind unter anderem Spiele der FIFA-, Battlefield-, Die Sims– und Need for Speed-Serie.

Meldung vom 4. August 2020: Schon jetzt ist der Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ein echtes Preisleistungs-Kraftpaket: Für 12,99 Euro pro Monat erhält der Kunde Zugriff auf das komplette Microsoft-Games-Sortiment, inklusive aller Neuheiten. Auch der aufpreispflichtige Multiplayer-Dienst Xbox Live Gold ist bereits enthalten.

Ab dem 15. September wird der Xbox Game Pass Ultimate erneut aufgewertet: Denn dann haben Abonnenten kostenlosen Zugriff auf 100 Konsolen-Spiele, die sich dank der Cloud-Technologie Project xCloud mit Android-Smartphones und -Tablets nutzen lassen. Von dieser Funktion profitieren also beispielsweise Besitzer eines Samsung-, OnePlus- oder Huawei-Handys – iPhone- und iPad-Besitzer bleiben vorerst außen vor.

Die Cloud-Gaming-Komponente wird in vielen europäischen Ländern freigeschaltet, darunter Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz.

Zur Auswahl stehen unter anderem „Sea of Thieves“, „Forza Horizon 4“, „Destiny 2“, „Minecraft Dungeons“, „Gears 5“, Ori and the Will of the Wisps“, „F1 2019“, „Hellblade“, „Wasteland 3“, „The Outer Worlds“, „Grounded“ und viele weitere.

Optional sind spezielle Halterungen und Adapter von Drittherstellern wie Razer und Nacon erhältlich, mit denen sich beispielsweise Xbox-Gamepad und Smartphone/Tablet verbinden lassen.

Die Integration von Project xCloud ist Teil einer bemerkenswerten Strategie: Derweil Sony Interactive einen virtuellen Zaun um das PlayStation-Ökosystem zieht, beschreitet Microsoft den exakt gegenteiligen Weg. Exklusiv-Titel spielen eine untergeordnete Rolle – stattdessen schafft der US-Konzern niederschwellige Anknüpfungspunkte, um möglichst viele Spiele-Fans zum Einstieg in die Xbox-Welt zu motivieren.

Die Zahl der Xbox Game Pass-Abonnenten gibt Microsoft mit 10 Millionen an – der Dienst ist ab monatlich 9,99 Euro zu haben. Das Unternehmen bewirbt das Upgrade auf Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, unter anderem mit einem symbolischen 1-Euro-Tarif für einen Test-Monat.
