Exklusiv-Meldung vom 21. Juni 2022 (18:20 Uhr): Nach Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive und Wargaming gibt es eine weitere Absage eines prominenten Gamescom-Ankermieters: Sony Interactive wird nicht an der Gamescom 2022 (24. bis 28. August) teilnehmen, wie das Unternehmen gegenüber GamesWirtschaft auf Nachfrage bestätigt hat.

Damit fehlen kommende Sony-Neuheiten wie PlayStation VR2 oder God of War Ragnarök auf dem Kölner Messegelände. Da die Teilnahme an der von Geoff Keighley produzierten Gamescom: Opening Night Live zwingend an eine Präsenz in der Entertainment Area gekoppelt ist, sind auch keine Weltpremieren oder Gameplay-Updates in der Eröffnungs-Show zu erwarten.

Sony Interactive gehört traditionell zu den wichtigsten und größten Gamescom-Ausstellern: Auf der Gamescom 2019 zeigte der PlayStation-Hersteller unter anderem Kojimas Death Stranding sowie Marvel’s Iron Man VR für PlayStation VR. Mit dem Kreativ-Baukasten Dreams räumte das Unternehmen gleich zwei Gamescom-Awards ab. Auch Drittanbieter wie Activision Blizzard und Remedy nutzten den Sony-Auftritt in Halle 7, um Neuheiten wie Call of Duty: Modern Warfare und Control vorzustellen.

Der Messebetrieb der Gamescom 2022 startet mit dem Fachbesucher- und Medientag am 24. August – Wirtschaftsminister Robert Habeck (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) wird die Spielemesse offiziell eröffnen.

Bislang haben KoelnMesse und Branchenverband allerdings keinen einzigen Aussteller offiziell angekündigt – gleichwohl soll das komplette Messegelände samt aller Hallen bei der Gamescom zum Einsatz kommen. Sony PlayStation skips Gamescom 2022

Gamescom 2022 has to cope with the next cancellation: PlayStation manufacturer Sony Interactive will not be present in Cologne.
